PFN donates foodstuff, other items to victims of attacks in Plateau

The Plateau Chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has donated foodstuffs and other relief materials to victims of attacks in Miango Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of the state.

Presenting the items on Thursday in Miango, the Chairman of the chapter, Rev. Steven Dagana, said that the gesture was aimed cushioning the hardship faced by the victims.

The National Daily reports that some villages in Miango were recently attacked and scores killed while some others got injured.

The attackers also burnt some houses and destroyed crops on farmlands in 39 communities of the chiefdom.

Dogana said that the donated items would not replace what the people had lost but were to identify with the victims.

The chairman hoped that the gesture would bring succour to the affected people.

He said that the donated items were from various churches in the chapter.

“We are here as a fellowship of the pentecostals in Plateau to visit, commiserate and pray with the people of Miango over the attacks.

“We have also come to support them with few items in order to cushion the hardship they are currently passing through.

“We are here to show the people that they are not alone, they are not going through this difficult time alone.

“We are deeply concerned about the spate of killings and wanton destruction of property in this chiefdom; so, our visit is to also encourage the people to have faith in God,” he said.

The chairman added that the chapter had visited some victims of attacks from the chiefdom in hospitals and donated some money to them.

Dangana advised the people against taking laws into their hands, and urged them to be vigilant at all times.

He admonished the people to forgive and forget the events of the past and live in peace with their neighbours irrespective of their tribes or religions.

Receiving the items, Brra Nggwe Rigwe, Rev. Ronku Aku, thanked PFN for the visit and donation.

Aku said that the gesture would go a long way to give the victims a sense of belonging and succour.

The monarch promised that the items would be judiciously distributed among the affected people.

The donated items include bags of maize, rice and potatoes; bales of secondhand clothes; and cartons of noodles, seasonings, bathing and washing soaps.

The others items include detergents, building materials and writing materials.
