Police restricts movement in 5 Plateau LGs
The Plateau State Police Command has restricted movement in five LGAs from December 23 to January 3, 2025, and implemented several security measures for a peaceful festive season.
The Plateau State Police Command has announced a movement restriction in five local government areas (LGAs) ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations. The restriction, which will run from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., is set to begin on December 23 and end on January 3, 2025.
Police Commissioner Mr. Emmanuel Adesina confirmed the development to newsmen on Monday in Jos. He explained that the restriction would affect the LGAs of Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Mangu, Riyom, and Bokkos.
In addition to the movement restriction, Adesina said the command had implemented measures to address various activities during the festive period. “After due consultation with critical stakeholders, the command has put a restriction on night grazing by herders, night farming, the night operation of drinking joints, mining activities at night, and the operation of commercial motorcycles,” he said.
He further noted that commercial tricycles, known locally as Keke Napep, would also be banned within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis on December 25, December 26, and January 1, 2025.
