Private security association advises that govts. needs to prioritise intelligence gathering
The Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Plateau chapter, has urged governments at all levels to give priority to intelligence gathering and use of technology to tackle the security challenges bedeviling the country.
The association gave the advice on Thursday in Jos during its monthly meeting and presentation of national membership certificates to nine private security outfits with headquarters in Plateau.
The Chairman of the chapter, Chief Edinen Usoroh, who expressed worry over the security challenges affecting some parts of the country, said that intelligence gathering was key in the fight against insecurity.
Usoroh said that private security outfits had the capacity and spread to assist governments with intelligence gathering.
“We are the association of licensed security professionals offering consultancy services within and outside Nigeria.
“It is high time for governments at all levels to focus attention on intelligence gathering and use of technology to overcome crime and criminality
“Government needs to know that we are the security outfit that is well organised and registered,” he said.
Mr Umar Muhammad, Legal Adviser of the chapter, urged governments to be up and doing by prosecuting offenders devoid of any sentiments.
Mr Inko-tariah Ipalibo, Managing Director of Tarmac Security Ltd. and Secretary General of ALPSPN, Plateau chapter, said that the association was strategically placed to give real time intelligence to government.
Ipalibo called for effective collaboration with governments in changing the narratives of insecurity for development to thrive in Plateau and Nigeria.
