Bandits defy Gov Lalong’s curfew, kill 5, abduct 4 in fresh attack in Bassa
Bandits had defied the curfew imposed by Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, carrying out fresh attack in Miango district of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State. The bandits were said to have killed over five people when they invaded Chando-Zrrechi community.
The bandits struck even after the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali, deployed a police intervention team and surveillance helicopter to Plateau State.
It was disclosed that four people were declared missing, and widely believed to have been kidnapped by the bandits while the dusk to dawn curfew on the Local government imposed by Governor Simon Lalong, was still in place.
The governor appeared to be helpless with the insecurity crisis in the state. He had imposed curfew in the troubled area of the state after the killing of about 25 Ondo travelers who were on their way from Bauchi through Jos to Ikare, Ondo State. Several others were injured in the attack last week. The governor was provoked into declaring the curfew after the mayhem.
