2023: INEC declares Mutfwang, PDP winner of Plateau election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared the Plateau State governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Barr. Caleb Mutfwang winner of last Saturday governorship election, having won the majority of the votes cast across the 17 LGAs of the State.
Declaring the results of the governorship election at INEC State office, Miango road Kufang Jos, the Returning Officer and Deputy Vice Chancellor Federal University, Lafia, Prof. Idris Amali said Barr. Caleb Mutfwang (PDP), scored a total votes of 525,299 to defeat his close rival Nentawe Yilwatda of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) who scored 481,370 vote.
Our correspondent reports that the opposition party (PDP), won in 10 LGAs, which are Mangu, Barki Ladi, Bassa, Langtang South, Langtang North, Mikang, Mangu, Bokkos, Jos South Bassa and Qua’anpan LGA.
While the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) won in 7 LGAs which includes Jos East, Kanke, Pankshin, Shendam, Wase, Jos North and Kanam LGA.
Prof. Amali while declearing the winner, said Barr. Caleb Mutfwang of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), having satisfied the requirements by law is hereby declared winner of the Plateau State governorship election, held Saturday 18th March 2023.
