Judges Inducement: PDP, APC bicker over $5 million bribe

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang has described the publication believed to have been written by a group that the All Progressive Congress (APC), bribed the Appeal Court judges with a whopping sum of $5 million to nullify his election victory as “baseless and defamatory“.

Distancing himself from the publication, the Governor said the sponsors of such write-ups seek to discredit him by sowing discord between him the esteemed judges and other constituted authorities.

Our correspondent deduced from a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Mr. Gyang Bere,  that the group is not known to the Governor or any of his cabinet members.

“I am not aware of such a publication”, Mutfwang had said in the statement.

According to him: “I demanded a thorough investigation by security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the libelous publication.

“I strongly condemned the baseless and defamatory allegations circulated by certain individuals, accusing judges of receiving a $5 million bribe for the nullification of my victory.

“I vehemently condemned the publication and attributed it to the deliberate actions of my detractors.

“Again I distance myself from the false narrative and dismiss it as mere fabrications crafted by individuals who are being manipulated as pawns by the opposition party in the State”, Mutfwang said.

The Governor reaffirmed his unwavering support for the judiciary, warning those disparaging the justices and respected leaders to desist from their destructive activities immediately or face the severe consequences of their actions.

Meanwhile the APC through its Publicity Secretary, Sylvanus Namang advised the PDP to refrain from dragging the party on issues it knows nothing about.
