Boko Haram terrorists invade military brigade in Borno, kill three
In an ambush in Borno State’s Lake Chad region, Boko Haram rebels allegedly murdered an army lieutenant and two vigilante members.
National Daily Newspaper gathered that the incident occurred five days after the military took control of the Boko Haram enclave in Krenowa, Marte Local Government Area of the state.
The military capture of the enclave was part of an effort to advance their war against terrorists.
A source told the press that the soldiers from the 50 Task Force Brigade were heavily bombarded near Krenowa village on Saturday.
According to the source, the onslaught prompted the soldiers to withdraw, abandoning 12 of the 15 motorcycles assigned for the mission.
He disclosed that the troops, numbering over a hundred and armed with numerous gun vehicles and other equipment, fled to Marte town.
Another source shared that an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) tank was destroyed during the attack, which took place about 1 a.m., and the driver fled with a leg injury.

The source narrated, “We took the fight to the terrorists at their hideout when suddenly we came under fire that forced us to retreat.
I believe they were hiding underground because there was no sign of them before the ambush, National Daily Newspaper gathered.
We took shelter at the headquarters of the 27 Task Force in Marte town.”
The source further stated that the bodies of the murdered officer, a civilian JTF member, and another vigilante member could not be collected immediately owing to the ferocity of the rebels’ firing.
