Kebbi Govt sponsors mass wedding for 300 indigents
Kebbi State Government has sponsored mass wedding for over 300 divorces, widows and indigents.
National Daily Newspaper gathered that mass wedding, the first in the state, was held at the Abdullahi Fodio palace, Gwandu Emirate, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, on Sunday.

The mass wedding was conducted by the Nafisa Nasir Development Foundation (NANAS), an intervention project of the wife of the state governor, Hajia Nafisa Nasir Idris.

Property provided for beneficiaries of the mass wedding in Kebbi
Governor Nasir Idris, presiding over the mass wedding, represented by the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman-Ankwe, disclosed that the state government would organise the mass wedding periodically to support the less privileged men and women to be joined as husbands and wives.

Support items for the new couples
Governor Idris was said to have disbursed N21 million, as dowry, for the 300 beneficiaries from the 21 local government areas of the state. Each bride received a dowry of N70,000.
The state government also provided furniture and fitting, including other property for the beneficiaries.
