Man arraigned in Ado-Ekiti for alleged cell phone theft
A 36-year-old man, Temitope Ogunmola, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a cell phone.
Ogunmola, who is of no fixed address, is currently standing trial on a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Sodiq Adeniyi, informed the court that the alleged offense occurred on June 6, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m. in Oye-Ekiti.
Adeniyi alleged that the defendant stole one Techno phone valued at N160,000, which belonged to one Adeusi Joseph.
The prosecutor stated that the alleged offense contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He requested an adjournment to allow him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr. Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that Ogunmola would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case has been adjourned until July 17, 2025, for hearing.
