Manchester United deliver five-goal thrashing against Ipswich
By Ihuoma Inyama
Manchester United finally got their first three points of the 2026/27 Premier League season in emphatic fashion, thrashing newly promoted Ipswich Town 5-0 in a dominant display.
After failing to secure victory in their opening fixtures, United responded with a statement performance, putting five goals past Ipswich to give their campaign a much-needed lift.
The result saw United take control early and maintain their attacking momentum throughout the contest, leaving Ipswich struggling to cope with the intensity and quality of their opponents.
For the newly promoted side, the heavy defeat served as a difficult reminder of the demands of Premier League football after their return to the top flight.
United’s five-goal haul will also provide a significant boost to confidence around the squad. Having been under pressure to produce results, the emphatic victory gives the team an opportunity to build momentum as the season progresses.
The win moves Manchester United onto the board with their first league victory of the campaign, while Ipswich will now look to respond when they return to action.
For United supporters, however, the message from the afternoon was clear: the Red Devils have finally arrived in the 2026/27 Premier League
