England boss Southgate regrets Iwobi loss to Super Eagles
England manager Gareth Southgate has singled out Alex Iwobi among the players The Three Lions lost, National Daily learnt.
Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha’s nephew chose to play for Nigeria and not England and he has since featured at the World Cup with the Eagles.
The Arsenal forward is now set for his AFCON debut in Egypt in June.
“We lost Iwobi, (Louis) Zaha (opted for Cote d’Ivoire), (Ethan) Ampadu (Wales),” lamented Southgate, who said England’s age-group teams are dominated by players with double nationalities.
However, recently Tammy Abraham, who has played for England U21s and his father is Nigerian, has said his international future is with England.
