Anambra community battles criminal gangs, land grabbers
The Chairman of the Umugama Progressive Union, Ukwulu, Peter Okoye, in a media interaction, observed that Philip Dilibe and his gang have been terrorizing the community despite several reports and complaints to relevant security agencies, including the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Okoye leading the community in a mass protest in Awka, Anambra State, said that beyond intimidation, harassment, extortion, threat to life, Philip Dilibe and his gang have intensified their assault on communities, delving into grabbing and selling of the community land; and challenge anybody who would dare them.
He said that Philip Dilibe recruited unknown gunmen to shield the peoples he also recruited to destroy their farm land and crops of members of the community.
He also accused Phillip Dilibe of collaborating with other land grabbers outside the community to sell the community land to prospective buyers without the approval of members of the community.
Okoye also alleged that Philip Dilibe hires thugs from neighbouring communities like Enugwu-Agidi, Nawgu and Awkuzu, instigators them to engage in violent protest against the Traditional Ruler of Ukwulu Kingdom, HRM Igwe Peter Uyanwa, who opposes the activities of Philip Dilibe, so as to cover and divert the attention of the public from his criminal activities.
