Cameroon soldiers encroach Nigerian territory, kill 11 persons in Taraba

Some soldiers from Cameroon on Wednesday encroached Nigerian territory, killing 11 persons in Manga community, Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State. The invaders were suspected to be Ambazonian soldiers from Cameroon, making incursion into Nigerian territory to compound the existing insecurity crisis triggered by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in northeast Nigeria.

The 11 victims sent to their early grave early Wednesday morning at Manga by the ‘guerilla’ fighters from Cameroon were identified to include  a traditional ruler.

Takum local government area is a border community between Taraba State and the Republic of Cameroon.

A Senior Special Assistant to Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State, Joseph Manga, identified as a brother to the murdered traditional ruler, in a telephone interaction with Channels Television monitored from Lagos, stated that the separatist Ambazonian soldiers began their attack and killing on a border community in Cameroon, then, proceeded to encroach the Nigerian territory for onslaught of residents of the rural community in Taraba State.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Joseph Manga, was monitored to have narrated: “The Ambazonian separatist soldiers attacked my village, Manga, which is a border community between Taraba State and Republic of Cameroon in Takum LGA.

“They, first of all, attacked a village on the other side of the divide and killed people before crossing over to do the same here.

“My elder brother is the traditional ruler there; they laid ambush and killed him in his palace before proceeding to kill others.

“The death toll at the moment is 11, including my brother, the traditional ruler, we are still combing the bush to recover more bodies or possibly those hiding.”

Several others were declared missing after they fled out of the community for safety. Though, the search and rescue teams are still looking out for those hiding in the bush.
