FG to receive FIFA women’s world cup trophy

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy tour continues with its arrival in Abuja, Nigeria scheduled for Thursday April 11, 2019 .

The Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung is expected to receive the visiting FIFA team led by the Women’s Football Project Lead, Nicole Fisch,  some officials of the  Nigeria Football Federation led by its President Amaju Pinnick and FIFA Legend Peter Odemwingie, in his office on Thursday at 10am.

According to the tour schedule, the trophy will be displayed at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja at 12pm till 2.30pm.

During a brief ceremony at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, a video on the journey of women’s football in Nigeria will be shown while fans will be allowed to take photographs with the trophy .

The trophy  departs Abuja at 9:00pm to make the next stop in Norway as scheduled.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour  launched in the French Capital on February 24, 2019 is on  a two-month journey across 24 different stops and 6 continents.
It serves as a historical avenue to celebrate the premier women’s football competition by travelling across the globe and giving the fans the opportunity to see the most coveted price in women’s football in person ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
The 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals holds in France from June 7th to July 7th, 2019 with only three African countries Nigeria, Cameroon and South Africa taking part.
