For GRV, politics should not be a game of self-interest or power play, but a noble platform to redistribute opportunities, welfare, and justice. He has consistently frowned at the exploitative template the APC-led government in Lagos continues to adopt, especially in matters affecting the vulnerable and marginalized. Citing the demolition of markets and forced evictions without adequate compensation or alternative arrangements, GRV likened their strategy to the haunting words of Jean-Jacques Rousseau , who once said, “ Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains . ” To him, Lagosians have been systematically caged in an environment where governance appears more oppressive than responsive, and where policies seem tailored for the elite rather than the people.
