Hospitals in Ukraine run out of oxygen

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that hospitals in Ukraine are running out of oxygen.  press conference that oxygen supply levels were dangerously low due to the conflict. Director-General of WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, had cried out that oxygen supply levels to hospitals in Ukraine are dangerously low because of the war with Russia.

World Health Organisation (WHO) warned that hospitals in Ukraine risk shortage of oxygen wherein ana verge of 2,000 patients are in need of hospital to survive.

According to Tedros, “Critical shortages of oxygen will have an impact on the ability to treat patients with Covid-19 and many other conditions.

“At least three major oxygen plants in Ukraine have now closed and we are seeking ways of accessing oxygen from neighbouring countries and ways to deliver it safely to where it’s needed.”

Dr. Michael Ryan, executive director of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, reiterated the oxygen alert. Over 2,000 people were said to be currently on oxygen support for treatment of Covid-19 in Ukraine’s hospitals.

Ryan had said: “I think the estimate just last week was that there was at least 2,000 people on oxygen for Covid in Ukraine.

“That’s 2000 people who need oxygen to survive, that number hasn’t changed.”
