Labour Party in Ekiti slams Nenadi Usman-led caretaker committee, calls for unity
The Labour Party in Ekiti State has criticized the Nenadi Usman-led national executive caretaker committee, calling them “political jobbers” seeking relevance. This follows the Supreme Court’s recent judgment which ruled in favor of the party’s legitimate leadership.
The Labour Party in Ekiti State has condemned the Nenadi Usman-led national executive caretaker committee, labeling them as “mere political jobbers” attempting to gain relevance within the party.
The criticism came from the state party chairman, Mr. Odunayo Okunade, during a press briefing at the State Working Committee (SWC) meeting held in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.
Okunade emphasized that the caretaker committee was not recognized by the party’s internal regulations and described them as “mischievous individuals” who have gained undue prominence following the party’s notable achievements in the 2023 Presidential election.
He pointed out that the recent Supreme Court ruling on April 4, which nullified the decision of the Court of Appeal, had addressed some of the internal conflicts within the party.
“The caretaker committee has no standing in our party’s structure,” Okunade stated. “The Supreme Court judgment has put an end to the divisions and rumors that were hindering the party’s progress.”
Okunade went on to congratulate the National Chairman, Julius Abure, for his Supreme Court victory, calling it a well-deserved win. He urged Abure to forgive his detractors for the sake of unity within the party.

“We must now focus on reconciliation and bring together all factions of the party,” Okunade added. “Labour Party is our home, and together, we shall succeed in future elections.”
In a call for peace, Okunade urged all factions to lay down their differences and allow the party to concentrate on its efforts to address the nation’s current socio-economic challenges.
He underscored that internal wrangling only diverts attention from the party’s overarching mission to rescue Nigeria.
Okunade concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to winning future elections and ensuring that its leadership remains focused on the collective good of the nation.
