President Tinubu mourns 40 Maulud participants killed in tragic auto crash
President Bola Tinubu has expressed profound condolences following the tragic loss of 40 members of the Tijjaniyya Movement in Nigeria who were killed in an auto accident on Sunday, National Daily Newspaper Reports.
The victims were traveling from Kwandari in Plateau State to a Maulud Nabiy celebration in Saminaka, Kaduna State, when their bus collided with a truck in Lere town.
In addition to the fatalities, National Daily Newspaper reports that numerous others sustained injuries in the crash, prompting an outpouring of grief and solidarity from across the nation.
President Tinubu extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives, as well as to the injured, emphasizing the community’s collective sorrow during this difficult time.
“The loss of these dedicated members is a tragedy not only for their families but for our nation as a whole,” President Tinubu stated.
He also conveyed his condolences to the governments of Kaduna and Plateau states, acknowledging the shared grief felt by many.
The President prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed, urging the nation to come together in support of the bereaved families. “In moments like these, we must unite in compassion and solidarity, helping those who have been impacted by this devastating event.”
In response to the rising concerns about road safety, President Tinubu has directed the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) to enhance monitoring on highways and implement measures aimed at reducing road accidents across the country.

This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring safer travel for all Nigerians.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, reiterated the government’s dedication to improving road safety standards and preventing future tragedies.
“The government will take every necessary step to protect the lives of our citizens on the roads,” Onanuga assured.
As investigations into the accident are underway, the nation mourns the loss of these individuals, who were en route to celebrate a significant religious event, marking a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of safety on the roads.
