Presidential Election Tribunal: APC files application to examine election documents
Following the PDP presidential candidate’s prayers the Appeal Court granted to inspect ballot papers used in the last presidential election, the ruling APC too has asked the presidential election tribunal to grant it permission to inspect those documents
APC’s President Muhammadu Buhari defeated the PDP’s candidate Atiku Abubakar in the election.
The APC made the request Thursday.
The three-member panel of the Appeal Court by led by Justice Abdul Aboki heard the application and granted same.
According to reports, President Buhari made one application, and his party made the other.
The tribunal had granted a similar request by the PDP to allow it inspect documents used for the compilation of the presidential results.
While the PDP applied for forensic examination of the document, in addition to the permission sough, the court could only grant the physical examination.
Many legal experts believe there are a lot of hurdles, going by precedence, the PDP and Atiku will have to clear to win this legal tangle if they have a case.
The PDP alleged that the ruling party used the military and INEC to perpetrate irregularities in the conduct of the election.
