Top 5 Nigerian stars on target again
Many Nigeria’s National Team and overseas-based players are hitting their targets for their various clubs in Europe, just as other Nigerian stars shone brightly this past weekend, National Daily monitored.
He played the entire game as bottom team Rayo Vallecano gave themselves a chance to escape relegation from La Liga with a shock home win over Real Madrid. He was simply masterful in midfield to take the shine off Real Madrid top stars.
4.Kenneth Omeruo
The Chelsea loanee was Man of the Match as CD Leganes were held to a goalless draw by Celta Vigo. He has enjoyed a superb run in La Liga this season and the talk now is that the Madrid club will buy him on a permanent basis at the end of the season. It will be a just reward for a player who has been shipped out on loan season after season since 2012.
3.Victor Osimhen
The striker netted his 15th goal in the league in Belgium for Charleroi to draw 2-2 at KV Oostende in a UEFA Europa League playoff. He has proved his consistency in front of goal and it will be interesting where he will be playing next season after his tally of goals in Belgium on loan
2.Blessing Eleke
Besides Odey, Eleke has also found his shooting range in Switzerland with Luzern. He scored his 11th goal in the league as his club beat Thun 3-1 at home. Having previously played in Slovenia and Israel, his experience has certainly steadied him at his latest club.
1.Stephen Odey
He was the match winner for FC Zurich at home against Sion in a vital league game in Switzerland after his team were ousted from the cup earlier in the week. He has now scored 15 goals in all competitions this season after making such remarkable progress in only his second season in Europe.
