FG approves 20 new private universities
The Federal Government on Wednesday approved the establishment of 20 new private universities in the country. The approval was affirmed at the virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, presided by President Muhammadu Buhari.
FEC had endorsed a memo from the Federal Ministry of Education for the establishment of 20 new private universities in Nigeria.
The federal government will issue provisional licenses to the 20 new private universities to operate for three years to be monitored by the federal Ministry of Education which will evaluate their growth and performance.
The new 20 private universities now brings the total number of private universities in Nigeria to 99.
