Court shields Sunday Igboho from arrest, restrains DSS, AGF
A high court has shielded Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a. Sunday Igboho, from being arrested by any agent of the Nigerian government.
Apparently, an Oyo State High Court on Wednesday granted an ex-parte motion prohibiting the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, from enforcing the arrest or intimidating, harassing, and blocking bank accounts of Sunday Igboho.
The presiding judge of the State High Court, Justice Ladiean Akintola, issued the order in acceptance of an ex-parte motion moved by the lawyer to Igboho, Chief Yomi Aliu (SAN).
Igboho’s lead counsel had narrated that “the court has ordered that he must not be arrested, detained, or killed in the next 14 days.”
He added that the court further ordered that “Igboho’s account should not be blocked.”
The suit was later adjourned to August 18 for hearing.
