Air Force Girls: Military urges graduating students to be mindful of insecurity

The Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Frank Oparah, has urged the graduating students of the Air Force Girls Military School (AFGMS), to be mindful of the insecurity situation that is ravaging the country.

Oparah said the out going students are not too young to understand that the country is passing through challenging times in the aspect of insecurity, charging them not to be discouraged.

The Commander stated this Monday in Jos during the 19th Graduation Ceremony of the Air Force Girls Military School Jos.

Represented by the Chief of Staff Grand Training Command Enugu, Air Vice Marshal Kabiru Aliyu, Oparah said: “You are not too young to understand the current security situation in the country, following incessant kidnappings and banditry that is more prevalent in secondary schools.

“I urge you all not to be discouraged but complement the efforts made in ensuring the sustenance and oneness of all”.

He said the graduating girls are prepared with the basic military training with a good foundation for subsequent service in the Nigerian Air Force.

Earlier, the Commandant Air Force Girls Military School Jos, Wing Commander Folashade Gbadebo, said the school’s quest is to raise socially responsible young girls.

Gbadebo said AFGMS is a prestigious school aimed at providing broad based academic and technical education as well as military training for the junior Airwomen while also preparing them for subsequent service in the Nigerian Air Force.

“AFGMS plays a leading role in the development of the girl child not just in terms of military training but also in academic pursuits”, Gbadebo said.

Our correspondent reports that the Air Force Military Girls School Jos graduated 77 students in the 2021 academic section, out of which the AFGMS Head Girl, Vandu Perpetual Paulinus emerged the best overall graduating student.
