Border blockade: Fresh tension in Bakassi peninsula as Cameroonian soldiers kill two Biafra League members

There is mounting tension in border communities near the Bakassi Peninsula after Cameroonian soldiers at the weekend killed two members of the Biafra Nations League (BNL). A fisherman in the territory linked to the Biafra Nations League (BNL), Akan Ime, on Saturday revealed that Cameroonian soldiers shot dead two BNL members in Bakassi Peninsula. Akan Ime who was at the scene of the shooting said he escaped to Oron, Akwa Ibom State. He narrated that the killing occurred on Saturday morning at Ine Mba community, adjacent to Idabato subdivision.

Akan Ime further narrated that the Cameroonian army opened fire on some youths who were constructing a road in the coastal town with bamboo, after the directive of the Biafra Nations League (BNL) National Leader, Princewill Chimezie Richards, that all borders with Cameroon be shut down in solidarity with Nnamdi Kanu’s prosecution in Abuja.
The corpses of the deceased have been taken away.

The BNL had last week revealed that militia youths loyal to the Biafra Nations League (BNL) had mounted blockade at the international border communities for three days.

They had blocked the Ekong Anaku-Cameroon border road, in Akamkpa, Cross River State, as directed by the leadership of BNL.

Meanwhile, the BNL is yet to make official statement on the border killing on Saturday. BNL sources, however, revealed that BNL militia are already mobilizing for showdown with the Cameroonian military at the international border in the Peninsula.
