Mimiko rejoins PDP with ZLP members
Former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State on Wednesday resolved to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and fusing the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) into the PDP in the build up to 2023 general elections.
It was gathered that stakeholders in the Zenith Labour Party in the 18 Local Government Areas of Ondo State at a meeting at the residence of the national leader, Olusegun Mimiko, in Ondo on Wednesday, unanimously resolved to join the PDP. In attendance at the meeting were former Ondo Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hin. Jumoke Akindele, ZLP State Chairman, Joseph Akinlaja, etc.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State had led three PDP Governors who include Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to hold consultative meeting with Mimiko on his defection to PDP.
The ZLP meeting was convened to consult with the PDP governors on the defection arrangements.
Former Governor Mimiko informed ZLP members that the party is invited to join the PDP to rescue Nigeria from the brink of insecurity and economic collapse.
