Bandits sustain siege on FCT, storm military checkpoint on Abuja-Kaduna expressway
Bandits have continued to lay siege on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with increasing confidence and confrontation with the military. Bandits had stormed a military checkpoint at Zuma Rock, Madalla, on the outskirt of Abuja, along the Kaduna-Abuja corridor on Thursday evening, engaging the security operatives in exchange of gunfire. The ‘warfare’ was said to have occurred at about 8.00pm, causing heavy traffic congestion on the expressway.
Bandits had earlier in the week ambushed the Presidential Brigade Guards on patrol between Kubwa and Bwari, which military authorities admitted three soldiers were killed.
