Blame PDP govs for bringing back Ayu from retirement —PDP pioneer
One of the pioneers of the PDP and former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan has blamed the PDP governors and the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for the party crisis.
Olusanya Awosan was speaking on Channels TV on Thursday when he said the governors goofed by bringing back a fossilizing politician to chair the PDP national executives.
And for Atiku, he wondered how it was convenient for somebody who had left the party, destroyed it, and then come back to take hold of it to contest.
“I think Vice President Atiku Abubakar has not looked back; he did not bother to look back,” he said.
“If there were no people to put the skeleton he left behind together, would there have been a platform for him to stand as a presidential candidate?”
Awosan expected Atiku to have been more generous with his victory at the presidential primary.
The ripples created following the loss of the contestants, especially Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike who has said he would help PDP lose in 2023, have shattered the party.
And Wike has given a condition for truce: Chairman Iyorchia Ayu must go.
That condition has further divided the party.
Awosan however blamed the governors in the party for this.
“The governors committed the first error when they went to the bed of Ayu to wake him up from that bed of political retirement to come and be the chairman,” he said.
The error now may be difficult to correct.
Atiku told Oyo Gov. Seyi Makinde, on of Wike’s men, on Wednesday nobody can remove Ayu—except after the party constitution has gone through amendment
