Police Service Chairman, Musiliu Smith, quits amidst power tussle over recruitment
The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Musiliu Smith, a former Inspector-General of Police, has resigned amidst seeming power tussle with the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, on the recent plan to recruit constables into the force.
The PSC chairman had made advertisement for the recruitment into the Force, which was countered by the IGP in a statement.
Meanwhile, the PSC chairman was said to have submitted his resignation letter to President Muhammadu Buhari last week, which approved last Tuesday.
The former chairman was also said to have presented his resignation letter to members of the PSC Board on Wednesday.
The spokesman for the PSC board Austin Braimoh, Commissioner, representing South-South, had disclosed that the former chairman submitted his resignation to the President on health grounds.
