Army arrest two kidnappers in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian Army have disclosed the arrest of two kidnappers in Akwa Ibom State. The Assistant Director of the Army Public Relations, 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Captain Samuel Akari, in a statement in Uyo, indicated that the army also rescued five victims in the custody of the kidnappers during the operation.

Captain Akari disclosed that the troops, working with the police stormed the kidnappers camp at Abia Palm, Epe community, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom, taking the insecurity battle to their door step.

The Assistant Director highlighted: “The raid and rescue operation was carried out based on credible information on the hideout of the kidnapping syndicate at Abia Palm.

“During the operation, the leader of the kidnapping syndicate simply identified as Jeam Nas escaped with an AK 47 rifle.

“While two other members of the syndicate, Imo Nkwo, aged 23 and Thankgod Ezekiel, aged 24, who attempted to escape were immobilized and arrested and their camp set ablaze.”

Akari said that the bus conveying the victims was hijacked by the kidnappers on its way to Ikot Ekpene from Port Harcourt on September 23.

He said that the Army have handed over rescued victims, exhibits and arrested kidnappers to the Police for further action.
