Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag faced the media on Thursday in a press conference ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City and insists he arrived at Old Trafford to win titles amid calls for his sack by the INEOS Group.
The Dutchman was responding to questions regarding his future at the club and if the FA Cup game would be his final hurray at the club.
The team finished in 8th place in the Premier League and could miss out on European places if they fail to beat Pep Guardiola’s side.
“I have nothing to say, I just focus on the job I have to do and that is win the game on Saturday and then we are in the project and keep going in the project.
“I came here to win trophies. Saturday I have the opportunity to achieve this and we earned this opportunity as a team.
We have to go for it. After every season you review it and see where you are in the project and what things may need to change.
We spoke lately about it.
There are players coming up, players developing, values going up. We have a big opportunity on Saturday to win a trophy.”
The embattled boss whose job has been described as ‘possibly up in the air’ insisted that United performed well in their league games against City this season, which included a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford and a 3-1 loss at the Etihad.

“I think we were very competitive until a VAR decision at
A decision, I thought. Nobody understood, we haven’t seen this in the rest of the season.
“At the Etihad, we were 70 mins very good in the game.
We had opportunities to score a second goal. Then they could sub, we didn’t have the bench. That’s a big difference.
On Saturday we will have a bench. We will have a much stronger side.”
Top managers like Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto di Zerbi, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel and Hansi Flick have been linked with the United job after Saturday’s FA Cup commitments.
