Turmoil in Rivers over LG election, Fubara warns police against lawlessness
There is rising turmoil in Rivers State over Saturday local government election, compelling Governor Siminalayi Fubara to warn police against instigating lawlessness in the state.
Governor Fubara in a broadcast accused the police of plotting to hijack election materials from the5 Rivers State Electoral Commission (RIESC) in Port Harcourt.

According to Fubara, “The IGP should take responsibility if there is any situation of lawlessness in Saturday’s election.”
Meanwhile, youths in Rivers have set up camps across the local governments to protect election materials.
There have been protests across the state by supporters of Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, against the Saturday LG election, and others supporting Governor Fubara, insisting the election must hold.
