Datti Baba-Ahmed threatens to make more revelations about Peter Obi amid Obidient backlash

Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has threatened to make further damaging revelations about Peter Obi and the 2023 presidential election if supporters of the former Anambra State governor, popularly known as Obidients, continue attacking him.

Datti issued the warning during an interview with Symfoni TV, where he expressed displeasure over what he described as persistent attacks by Obi’s supporters whenever he speaks about their principal.

According to him, the criticism from Obidients would not deter him from speaking out, insisting that he has more information about Obi and the circumstances surrounding the 2023 election.

“Obidients are always eager to attack me. I have more damaging things to reveal. You attack me because I told you the truth about Peter Obi,” Datti said.

The former vice-presidential candidate maintained that he remained a loyal member of the Labour Party but would not allow himself to be intimidated into silence by supporters who, according to him, were unaware of what transpired during the 2023 presidential election.

Datti’s comments come amid growing political disagreements between him and Obi’s supporters following his recent criticism of the former presidential candidate’s reported moves to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

His position has reportedly angered sections of the Obidient Movement, with some accusing him of betraying Obi and allegedly working in the interest of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.

The latest exchange has further exposed divisions within the Labour Party’s political camp, which gained significant national prominence during the 2023 presidential election, when Obi emerged as the party’s presidential candidate and Datti served as his running mate.

The controversy comes as political realignments and consultations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with opposition figures exploring possible alliances and platforms to challenge the ruling party.
