Sanchez departure cleansed Arsenal’s dressing room – Gerard
By Boluwatife Ezekiel Olaleye
Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard has claimed the Arsenal dressing room was “toxic” before Alexis Sanchez left the club.
The Chilean forward left for Manchester United last month in a move that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan join the Gunners
And Liverpool legend believes the atmosphere at the club was down to the Chilean.
“It seemed from the outside it was toxic in the changing room. Sanchez going creates a clean slate,” Gerrard said on BT Sport.
“It’s been hanging over the club. The Arsenal fans realise now they have a top quality centre-forward.”
That centre forward is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who scored on his debut as Arsenal thrashed Everton 5-1.
Aaron Ramsey bagged a hat-trick while Mkhitaryan set up three of the goals.
