Edo Govt. replies Wike, says state received only N2.1bn of N28bn oil derivation backlog
The Edo State Government has responded to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State who challenged oil producing states to declares their shares of the 13%derivation allocation. The Commissioner for Finance in Edo State, Joseph Eboigbe, in a media interaction in Benin City, that the state has received only N2.1 billion of the expected N28 billion, being the Edo State share from the 13% oil derivation paid by the Federal Government to oil-producing state.
The commissioner said that 13% derivation funds are to be spread over five years in 20 installments, disclosing that Edo State has received three installments of N700 million.
Governor Wike had challenged oil-producing states to account for the 13% derivative funds being paid by the Federal Government.
Wike was cited to have stated, “I am not an Apostle of Buhari; he is not my friend, but I have no regret to appreciate him for paying the money meant for the Niger Delta states. He has paid. Let everybody come and account for it.”
