Umahi, 28 others bag NSE fellowship
THE Ebonyi State governor, Chief David Umahi, has been formally conferred with the distinguished fellowship of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, in recognition of his several years of superlative career in the engineering profession.
The conferment took place during the NSE 2015 4th Quarterly Dinner at the Nigerian Air Force Conference Centre in Abuja last Wednesday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ademola Olorunfemi, charged Umahi and the 29 other conferees to brace for the reality and current challenges if they want to remain relevant to their calling as major stakeholders in the management of the nation’s infrastructural development.
Olorunfemi promised that NSE would leverage on its ground-breaking success to assist the present administration to succeed.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for giving members of the society opportunity to serve in his cabinet.
He further solicited the support of members and guests in raising N500 million towards the completion of phase II of the Abuja National Engineering Centre project.
Speaking on behalf of other fellows, Governor Umahi thanked the NSE for considering them fit for the honour.
He described the honour as a fresh challenge to them to do more for the profession.
The governor praised the quality of the recipients and the criteria employed in the selection process which has guaranteed merit and celebration of accomplishment.
He pledged that the conferees would synergize with their colleagues in expanding the frontiers of the profession to enable the engineering profession achieve its full potential as a tool for national development.
The governor commended Engr. Olorunfemi for the successes recorded during his stewardship as president of the society.
Among the conferees were the Founder of Omatek Computers, Engr. Florence Seriki; the Vice- President, MTN Africa, Engr. Karl Olutokun, INEC Director of ICT, Engr. Chidi Nwafor.
