How Bororo chief spying on Fulani bandits for NSCDC ended up dead

Alhaji Sheidu Madawaki wanted to make a difference from the criminally-minded Bororo tribesmen, largely Fulani migrants from Niger, terrorising Oro Ago, Kwara, and he could have if he had had protection. And the bad guys wouldn’t have got him.

The Bororo leader paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, last week, and established a synergy with the agency on human intelligence that could help weed out the terrorists ad make Oro Ago peaceful.

He made it clear to the NSCDC protecting informant was key in the synergy. The corps gave him their word.

Six days after, Sheidu was attacked, and killed in his home around 9pm.

He might have been killed because of his readiness to support security agencies to wipe out criminals in the area. At least his community think so.

The state Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Assayomo, has directed that discreet investigation into the incident be commenced immediately.
