The US President, Joe Biden, had hidden some truth in the Ukraine travails in the hand of Russia.  Biden had argued that in refusal to provide arms to Ukraine, President Trump “used the power and resources of the United States to pressure a sovereign nation, a partner that is still under direct assault from Russia … to subvert the rule of law.”

It was revealed that after Russia annexed Crimea in 2014, began arming separatists in eastern Ukraine with tanks, armored vehicles and rocket launchers, President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine ran to US to plead for weapons to defend his country. “In an impassioned address to a joint session of Congress — with Biden sitting directly behind him — Poroshenko said his country appreciated the nonlethal assistance he was getting but declared “one cannot win a war with blankets.”

The Obama-Biden administration remained unmoved. According to the Wall Street Journal, “President Barack Obama stuck to his refusal to provide weapons or other lethal military gear to Ukraine.”

Obama was cautious that lethal aid to Ukraine would provoke Russia.

It was said that the Obama administration, instead of assisting Ukraine with rocket-propelled grenades, provided food rations. This was said to be a message of weakness.

It was narrated that President Trump “delivered a message of strength” on resumption of office. Trump in December 2017 announced that the US would send the lethal aid to Ukraine that Poroshenko requested and Obama and Biden refused “the sale of $47 million worth of Javeline antitank missiles.

After Ukraine tested its new Javelin missiles In May 2018, Poroshenko on Twitter declared, “Finally this day has come!” he thanked Trump “for supporting Ukraine and adopting a decision to provide Javelin antitank missile systems.”

Biden was said to have hidden the truth in berating Trump for a temporary delay in a new round of lethal military aid, thus, said to display hypocrisy. “It was on Biden’s watch that the United States refused to deliver military aid at all,” it was declared.

It was recalled that the Obama-Biden administration bears much responsibility for the annexation of Crimea which showed the need to deliver lethal aid to Ukraine in the first place. It was argued that Russia’s military operation in Ukraine was a result of the failure of the Obama-Biden administration to enforce its red line against Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons by Syria.

Biden was cited to have started in March 2013:  “Because we recognize the great danger Assad’s chemical and biological arsenals pose to Israel and the United States, to the whole world, we’ve set a clear red line against the use or the transfer of those weapons.”

Assad was said to be provoked to use chemical weapons on innocent civilians 16 times, but Obama administration did nothing. Biden had publicly defended the inaction of the US government then:  “We can easily say we should have bombed and gone in and taken out their air defense system.

“Well, you know, big nations can’t bluff.”

Assad had called their bluff. Syria turned to Russia for a face-saving way out, letting Russian President Vladimir Putin broker a phony deal for disarming of Syria.
