Joe Igbokwe reacts to claims that Lagos belongs to the Yorubas
A chieftain of the APC and a prominent politician in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has described his principal, Bola Tinubu, as a good man. During his interview on TVC News, Igbokwe reacted to those who questioned Tinubu’s ability because Lagos State belongs to Yoruba people while Nigeria has diverse ethnic groups.
Addressing the topic, Igbokwe said, “I, Joe Igbokwe, am I a Yoruba man?” Many rich men and women in the Southeast built their business empires in Lagos State. I am from Nnewi, and if you visit the area during the Christmas period, you will find vehicles with Lagos plate numbers while all our markets are filled. However, the town looks deserted by January, when these people return to Lagos.
He continued, “Igbo people have more investments in Lagos State than in Igbo land.” This is the hub, and there are over 20 million people in the state. It is a potential market, and people across Africa come here to trade.
