Ojota tanker explosion under control—LASTMA
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) says the fire incident involving a lone diesel-laden tanker in the Ojota area of Lagos in the early hours of Monday has been brought under control by the Lagos State fire service and its operatives.
The Agency’s Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, said the tanker which was conveying diesel was engulfed in flames at the Ojota inward interchange.
He said the fire had been brought under control and that no fatalities were recorded in the incident.

Taofiq stated that the timely intervention of LASTMA operatives was able to prevent traffic gridlock on the highway as vehicles were diverted to alternate roads.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) also confirmed their participation in managing the situation.
The LSFRS reported the successful extinguishing of the fire, thereby bringing the situation under control. The affected tanker, reportedly en route to Ketu, caught fire for reasons still under investigation. The prompt response from LASTMA and LSFRS ensured the fire was contained, minimizing potential infrastructural damage and prioritizing public safety.
The spokesperson for the agency, Shakiru Amodu said the fire has been extinguished, and the situation brought under control.
