NDLEA Kano Command prosecutes 22 drug dealers in July
The Kano State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) announced on Thursday that it successfully prosecuted 22 drug dealers in July 2024.
Commander Abubakar Idris-Ahmad confirmed the convictions, highlighting this as a significant achievement in the ongoing fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse.
“We have convicted 22 drug dealers,” stated Idris-Ahmad. He also detailed an incident involving Abubakar Mu’azu, who engaged in an altercation and stabbed an NDLEA officer during his arrest.
“Mu’azu was subsequently sentenced to three years in a correctional center, while the others received various terms of imprisonment,” he added.

Idris-Ahmad emphasized the range of illicit substances seized and reiterated the command’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and prosecuting offenders.
He credited the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, retired Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Buba-Marwa, for his steadfast support in the fight against drug abuse.
“No form of intimidation or violence will deter our operatives from pursuing justice,” Idris-Ahmad affirmed. “Our professionals are dedicated to ensuring that those involved in drug-related crimes face legal consequences.”
Idris-Ahmad also urged public cooperation, calling on residents to report any suspicious drug-related activities promptly to the agency. He emphasized the community’s crucial role in achieving a drug-free society.
