Gombe Utd goalkeeper Fabiyi reveals why he was attacked
By Esther Egbe
Gombe United goalkeeper, Emmanuel Fabiyi told National Daily that he was shocked that fans decided to attack him, following his side’s 3-3 draw with Enugu Rangers.
The Benin international sustained head injuries and he is expected to go for a scan all by himself after he claims that no one from his club asked about him since last night.
“I was so disappointed that some fans attacked me at the stadium after the match against Rangers yesterday. I was so shocked,” Fabiyi told National Daily.
“Even the man they call Alhaji Kwaranga, who has played before should know that things like this do happen in football. I was surprised he was the one that instructed those guys to attack me.
“When they scored the last goal, he was at my back and he was accusing me why that goal came in.
“So I now ask him why he said such a thing and to my surprise he said I sold the match and I’ve collected money from Rangers.

“I’m still the goalkeeper that kept a series of lean sheet for the club, I’ve put up some great performances in the past so why should someone order some fans to attack me?
“I have to find a hospital to get the x-ray done, For safety reasons I just have to leave this town.”
This same fans have always asked me to always be in goal, they send me messages asking me to be dressed for every match and shockingly this same fans have come to attack me.”
