Coco Gauff wins 2025 French Open
Coco Gauff made history on Saturday by clinching her second Grand Slam title, defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 6–7(5), 6–2, 6–4 in a dramatic French Open final.
At 21, she becomes the youngest American to win at Roland Garros since Serena Williams in 2002 and the first to do so since Serena’s 2015 victory. But Gauff’s triumph wasn’t just about tennis—it was a dream years in the making.
Shortly after the win, she shared a photo on her Instagram Story showing a note in her handwriting repeating the affirmation: “I will win French Open 2025.” In a second slide, she posted a screenshot dated June 8, 2021, where she wrote: “I had a dream last night that I will win French Open… if you can dream it, you can do it.”
Gauff’s belief matched her resilience on court. Despite losing a grueling first set tiebreak, she stormed back to dominate the second and hold strong in the third.
Sabalenka, who made 50 unforced errors, struggled to match Gauff’s consistency and determination in windy conditions. After sealing victory on Sabalenka’s backhand error, Gauff dropped to the clay in tears before embracing her mother.
“I didn’t think I could do it,” she said. “I want to thank my parents, my team—everyone who’s believed in me even when I had doubts.” Sabalenka, emotional in defeat, still managed praise: “Coco, you were the better player today. Congrats on a second Grand Slam.”
From a dream written in 2021 to an affirmation carried in her hand, Coco Gauff has turned belief into glory—becoming the 2025 French Open Champion.
