Absentee nominee debars legislative clearance
By Lanre Adesanya
One of the 37– man gubernatorial nominees forwarded to the Lagos State House of Assembly for screening, Yetunde Onabule did not show up for screening by the whole house and that may debar the desired speedy clearance the Governor needs for the nominees.
The Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa hinted the house of the call he got from one of the nominees, who told him she could not make the screening by the whole house because she was far away in the united Kingdom.
The absentee at the first meeting with the House after the pre-screening exercise will have to show up on Thursday this week, before a final take on the ad hoc committee recommendation presented today could be taken, this may likely drag the ratification beyond time limit, as the speaker noted that she will be taken at another plenary session.
Many of the nominees who were former legislators, reputable journalists, business guru, former commissioner, special advisers and council boss, stated that they had a very good encounter with the pre-screening ad hoc committee who were said to be firm and thorough.
