Man steals at police station
25-year-old man, Rilwan Adebayo, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N62,000 from a policewoman.
He pleaded not guilty.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Peter Nwangwu said the defendant committed the offence on July 7 at the Resolution Unit of the Nigeria Police, Elere Division, Agege, Ikeja.
He alleged that the defendant opened a drawer belonging to Taiwo Ibikunle, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), and stole the cash. But he was allegedly caught by Ibikunle’s colleague.
Chief Magistrate Yewande Aje-Afunwa granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in the like sum.
She said the sureties must be employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case continues on September 10.
