Tinubu congratulates Badejo at 70

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, congratulated Prof. Babafemi Badejo as he celebrated his 70th birthday.
The President, in a statement read by Prof. Adelaja Odukoya at a Symposium in honour of the celebrant at the University of Lagos, conveyed Tinubu’s goodwill message to the academician.
Badejo was a scholar and former Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General at the its Office for Somalia.
“The President joins family and friends to celebrate Badejo’s rich and impactful career at the UN, the African Union and the academia.”
The President also recalled that the accomplished scholar was known for his dedication to political reforms, also in conflict-affected areas during his assignment at the UN.
He lauded the diplomat’s contribution to the peace process in Somalia, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan, alongside his pivotal role in the Jiboutu Initiative.
“The President extends his best wishes for Badejo’s continued good health and strength as he enriches scholars and inspires diligence, discipline and the pursuit of knowledge.’
