Police apprehend wanted homicide suspect

The Niger State Police Command has disclosed the arrest of a wanted homicide suspect who was on the run. The suspect was said to have been arrested on August 15 and has been undergoing interrogation. The State Police Command identified the arrested suspect as Jamilu Ibrahim, a k a, Gerald, 31 years, from Tudun Wada, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area, Niger State.
Jamilu Ibrahim was arrested at Regina Town, Rafi Local Government, Niger State, he has been on the wanted list of the Niger State Police Command for killing one Alhaji Samaila Isyaku of Tudun Bako village on September 1, 2019, during the electioneering campaign in Kagara for local government chairmanship election.
Gerald was said to have stabbed the deceased to death with a knife and had since been on the run, sojourning in Gada-Kassar village in Mashegu Local Government, Niger State, to escape justice.
The police disclosed that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, claiming that he was attacked by some political thugs during the rally which led to his action.
The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, commended the police operatives for the whoop operations, urging them not to relent in the onslaught against banditry and other criminalities in the state.
The CP further directed discreet investigation into the case, assuring that the suspect will face the full wrath of the law and be prosecuted accordingly.
