Crisis hits Kaduna Assembly, Speaker Shagali forced out

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has been thrown into crisis, leading the coercive removal of the Speaker, Right Honourable Aminu Shagali.

Members of the House had commenced collecting signatures for the impeachment of Rt. Hon. Aminu Shagali, representing Sabon-Gari Constituency, which compelled him to resign on Tuesday and was succeeded by Honourable Yusuf Zilani, representing Igabi constituency in the State House of Assembly.

Zilani was Deputy Speaker of the House elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Zilani was elected Speaker to replace Shagali by the lawmakers during plenary on Tuesday.

The dethroned Speaker has continued to conceal the reason for his resignation.
