OGITECH bags NAPS Noble Award

It was a moment of joy and celebration for staff and students of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, recently, when the institution bagged a merit award as the Most Outstanding ICT Polytechnic of the year 2015 from the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS).
The award was won at the International Students Day Summit 2015.
Presenting the award, the National President of the association, Comrade Adeyeye Olugbega said that the conferment of the award on OGITECH was in recognition of the Rector, Engineer (DR) Mrs. Olufunke Akinkurolere, immense contributions to the well being of the masses and the development of Nigeria’s education sector at large.
According to him, the body took time to scrutinize the awardee based on her commitment to good governance, democratic best practices, rule of law, innovation and found the institution worthy especially in the area of technology development.
The Union commended the Rector’s ingenuity for the ongoing transformation in the school, for making it crisis free since she took over as the Rector over a year ago.
Responding, the Rector who described the award as a call for more service, said that all the achievements recorded would not have been possible without their collaboration of the staff and students who understand the purpose of learning and scholarship.
The rector, represented by Dean, Students Affairs, Mrs Folasade Oladipo, said that she owes a duty to posterity to build a future to avoid laying of blames on the fathers for failing in their responsibilities, saying that acquisition of skill, which the poly stands for, would be given a priority to propel the economy.
She expressed appreciation of the institute to the organizer’s assuring that the school will not relent in her effort to remain a technology institute of repute in Nigeria.
