Army reveals identity of brigadier-general ISWAP killed in ambush at Bulguma
The Nigerian Army has confirmed ISWAP attacks on the federal troops in Borno State earlier in the day.
The National Dail reported how ISWAP fighters in no fewer than 16 gun trucks attacked a military base at Askira.
In an ambush on soldiers going to reinforce the base, Brigadier-General Dzarma Zirkusu and some soldier were killed .
They were ambushed at Bulguma, few kilometers from Askira town in Askira Uba Local Government Area.
In a statement on Saturday evening, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, Army Spokesman, described the incident as tragic.
He said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, has commiserated with the families of the deceased officers.
He identified the slain senior officer as Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu.
