Tinubu Orders Immediate Release of Minors Facing Prosecution Amid Public Outcry
In response to widespread national outrage and growing international concern, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated the immediate release of all minors detained and prosecuted in connection with the recent #EndBadGovernance protests.
This directive aims to protect children’s rights and prevent further legal action against these young individuals while still upholding the rule of law.
Announcing the decision, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris briefed journalists at the State House in Abuja.

Idris explained that President Tinubu’s directive includes an order for the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction to prioritize the welfare and rehabilitation of these minors, ensuring they receive the necessary support upon their release.
Furthermore, President Tinubu instructed a thorough investigation into the actions of law enforcement officers involved in the arrest, detention, and prosecution of these minors.
He emphasized that any officials found to have misbehaved will face disciplinary action following the law.
This move, the presidency claims, reflects the administration’s commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the public and to upholding justice, particularly in cases involving vulnerable groups such as minors.
